Minecraft Chaos Cubed update release date, features, and more details

Mojang has officially confirmed everything players need to know about Minecraft’s Chaos Cubed game drop, and it is set to be the game’s second major release this year. It is arguably one of the most inventive updates the sandbox title has seen in years. Essentially, the Minecraft 26.2 Chaos Cubed is scheduled to release on June 16, 2026, arriving as Java Edition 26.2 and Bedrock Edition 26.30 simultaneously. The release date was officially revealed at Minecraft Live May 2026, held at TwitchCon Europe in Rotterdam, Netherlands. In the section below, we take a detailed look at the upcoming Minecraft Chaos Cubed update.

Minecraft Chaos Cubed update release date

As mentioned above, the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update is officially announced to release on June 16, 2026. The same was recently revealed at the Minecraft Live May 2026, which was held at the TwitchCon Europe. The update is highly awaited, and it will end up introducing a variety of unique and innovative features.

Minecraft Chaos Cubed update features

Listed below are some of the key features that will be released as part of the Minecraft Chaos Cubed update:

Sulfur Caves Biome

  • One of the biggest highlights of the Chaos Cubed update is the introduction of a new biome called Sulfur Caves. These caves will contain noxious pools that can cause players who walk into them to experience a strange, dizzying effect. The biome is home to sulfur cubes, sulfur pools, spikes, geysers, and two exclusive blocks.

New Blocks: Sulfur and Cinnabar

  • Sulfur is a yellow-colored crystalline block found in the sulfur caves, while Cinnabar is a red-colored rock also found in the same biome. Both come with full block sets, and players can craft or cut stairs, slabs, walls, polished variants, bricks, brick stairs, brick slabs, brick walls, and chiseled versions of each. The two blocks give Sulfur Caves their distinctive red and yellow colour palette.

Potent Sulfur and Geysers

  • Potent Sulfur is a version of sulfur that is generated underwater in sulfur pools and springs. When placed underwater, it emits bubbles and a cloud of noxious gas at the surface. Players and mobs get Nausea when they enter water that is near or touching the noxious gas.

The Sulfur Cube Mob

  • The star of the entire update is undoubtedly the Sulfur Cube — a new mob with the remarkable ability to change its physics depending on which block it absorbs. Sulfur Cubes can be obtained by picking them up using an empty bucket, allowing players to transport them to new locations.

Friends List for Java Edition

  • Java Edition players will finally receive the Friends List feature with the Chaos Cubed update, though Mojang recently pulled the peer-to-peer multiplayer support before the official release.

With June 16 now locked in, Minecraft players have a firm date to look forward to as one of the most chaotic and creative updates in the game’s history prepares to bounce its way into the world.
