NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings pacer Anshul Kamboj recently found himself at the centre of a funny social media moment after a security guard resembling him went viral during Vijay’s oath-taking ceremony as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.Fans quickly noticed the similarity between Kamboj and the security personnel standing near Vijay during the ceremony and started sharing memes online.
The jokes became so popular that even Kamboj himself began receiving messages asking whether he was secretly working security duty instead of playing cricket.CSK later shared a video where Kamboj reacted to the viral pictures before eventually meeting his lookalike in person at the stadium.“Actually, almost everyone has sent me this meme on my Instagram as well,” Kamboj said. “Everyone is just asking me what are you doing there? But actually he’s looking a bit like me, not fully.”The viral moment even caught the attention of Ravichandran Ashwin, who joked on social media about Kamboj missing cricket duties for security work.“Duty always comes first, but on a must-win match day #CSKVLSG, it’s a bit too much,” Ashwin wrote jokingly. The light-hearted episode came during an important phase of the IPL season for CSK. After a poor start with three straight defeats, Chennai bounced back strongly by winning six of their next eight matches to stay alive in the playoff race.CSK recently defeated Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets and now need strong results in their remaining league matches against Lucknow, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans to secure a playoff spot.
