‘Masters of the Universe’ just brought back one of the biggest and most iconic superheroes to the big screen. Looking back at the franchise, actor Dolph Lundgren was the last person to helm the name of ‘He-Man. In a recent interview, the veteran star opened up about officially passing the torch to Nicholas Galitzine and how reviving the universe all over again felt for him.

Lundgren last played the main role of He-Man in the 1987 film, so almost 4 decades have passed since the last time the franchise was brought to the forefront. While in conversation with Variety India, the veteran actor weighed in on what it was like to pass the character’s torch to Nicholas Galitzine.He cited that it was an exciting and emotional moment for him to revisit one of his most beloved roles. Lundgren briefly makes an appearance in ‘Masters of the Universe’. He cited, “It was a tremendous experience to be in ‘Masters of the Universe,’ to speak to a younger version of myself, played by Nicholas Galitzine. I was playing a mix of my old He-Man character and myself, while speaking to someone who was essentially taking over that role.”He further shared that the experience was surreal and out of this world, and that it was amazing: “Staring at someone doing what I did 40 years ago was amazing. It was a great experience.”The actor also praised the creators of the 2026 film and how they have done a great job of bringing the character and the entire universe back to life. “When I saw the movie, I thought they did a good job. I think it turned out really well.”In 1987, Lundgren’s ‘Masters of the Universe’ had collected around USD 17 million at the box office. Alongside the veteran star, the film also starred Frank Langella as Skeletor, Meg Foster as Evil-Lyn, Billy Barty as Gwildor, Courteney Cox as Julie Winston, and many others.
