Hero MotoCorp is set to take a major step towards alternative fuel mobility in India with the launch of its first flex-fuel motorcycle on June 3. The launch event will be attended by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, the brand said. The upcoming motorcycle will become Hero MotoCorp’s first ethanol-powered model for the Indian market. A flex-fuel vehicle is designed to run on petrol as well as higher ethanol blends, including E85 fuel, which contains up to 85 percent ethanol. At present, most vehicles in India are compatible with E20 fuel, but the government has been actively encouraging manufacturers to develop vehicles capable of operating on even higher ethanol blends in the future.Hero MotoCorp has not officially confirmed the name or specifications of the upcoming motorcycle yet. However, reports suggest that the company’s first flex-fuel offering could be based on either the Splendor or the HF Deluxe, both of which are among the brand’s highest-selling commuter motorcycles in India.Interestingly, Hero had previously showcased a flex-fuel prototype based on the HF Deluxe at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, hinting at the direction the company planned to take for mass-market alternative fuel mobility.Stay tuned to TOI Auto for latest updates on the automotive sector and do follow us on our social media handles on Facebook, Instagram, and X.
