Veteran action director Sham Kaushal recently surprised fans by posting an old photograph from the sets of Aamir Khan’s blockbuster ‘Dangal’. The black-and-white image, shared on social media, captures Kaushal sitting among wrestlers during a scene from the 2016 sports drama. While many remember him for designing action sequences behind the camera, few may know that he also briefly appeared in the film.

Sham Kaushal on playing an Akhara guru

The throwback still appears to be from one of the wrestling sequences featured in Nitesh Tiwari‘s directorial venture. Dressed in a traditional kurta-pyjama and sporting a moustache, Sham Kaushal can be seen portraying an akhara guru. Sharing the memory with his followers, he wrote, “Someone shared this photo with me from DANGAL. I m the Action Director for Dangal. Thanks @niteshtiwari22 for making me do a small role as akhara guru. Rab Rakha. (sic)” The post offered fans a glimpse into a lesser-known detail from the making of the acclaimed film.
