AHMEDABAD: A 42-year-old man struggling with unemployment and mounting financial strain allegedly died by suicide in Gandhinagar’s Kudasan area, leaving behind a poignant note that reflected his concern for the safety of his young daughter and family even in his final moments.The extreme step came to light on Wednesday night when the man’s wife, accompanied by her brother, returned to their residence at Poonam Residency in Kudasan after failing to contact him for several days. What awaited them was a devastating scene.Pankaj Bhansali, originally from Borivali in Mumbai and residing in Kudasan, reportedly was unemployed for nearly five months after losing his job with a stock market-related company in Infocity. According to preliminary police findings, he also was facing financial problems linked to losses and debts, which may have pushed him into severe emotional distress.
Before taking the extreme step, Bhansali allegedly pasted a handwritten warning on the main door of his house. The note cautioned family members, especially his daughter, not to enter the house or consume any water inside and advised them to wear masks due to the presence of poisonous substances.Police said Bhansali’s wife left for her parental home with their daughter on May 13. The couple last spoke on May 22, after which his phone remained switched off. Repeated efforts to contact him failed, prompting concern among family members.When relatives reached the house on May 27, they found the main door open and the warning note affixed outside. Upon entering, they discovered Bhansali dead inside the residence. Police suspect that the death occurred around May 22 and remained unnoticed for seven days.Police recovered packets of highly toxic pesticide from the scene. An accidental death case has been registered by Infocity police, who are probing the exact circumstances leading to the tragedy.Family members told police that Bhansali was under stress in recent months. Police said further investigation is underway.
